SWT

SWT is the pay stub abbreviation for state withholding tax, the state income tax taken from your pay. You may also see SIT, SITW, State WH or the state's postal code, such as "OH SWT".

Each state sets its own withholding formula and form, and some still use withholding allowances. States with no wage income tax have no SWT line. See which states have no income tax and whether state tax is taken out of your paycheck.

An "SWT additional amount" is extra withholding you asked for on the state form, the state version of W-4 Step 4(c). City and county taxes usually get their own line, covered under local income tax. The federal line is FIT. Pick your state in the paycheck calculator by state to see the amount.
